Hey,

Gottfried, I first came upon your work in high school when we were supposed to do paintings in the style of an artist. my teacher suggested you, and I fell in love with your work. Since then ive strived to do work on your level, i always ask myself, "is it good enough for, or as good as, Helnwein?". sadly the answer is still no, although that purpose has gained me scholarships and numerous awards and notoriety. I also always loved the work of Marilyn Manson, and when i heard you two were collaborating, i nearly shit myself. I sincerely hope to meet you in person soon. we have a lot to talk about.

Hallo Hr. Helnwein
Ich lebe in Wien bin seit 15 Jahren Hobbymaler und nehme die Malerei sehr ernst.Es hat mir gut gefallen was Sie über Wien geschrieben haben und Sie weggegangen sind. Es ist aber nicht leicht wegzukommen.
Gibt es irgend eine Seite oder ein Buch wie man so groß malen kann und in welcher Technik.
Ist es altmeisterliche Technik mit Imprimtur usw.
Wenn ja dann geben Sie mir einen kleinen Hinweis.

i have been a fan(atic) of your work for quite a while and have only recently caught onto this fad they call "les internet",so i finally get to sign your guestbook. i recently had the chance of seeing your beautiful latest exhibition in the Fenton in Cork.. astounding work.. as was Mercedes work in the South Tipp Art centre..

hallo fangemeinde,
nachdem ich ca. 4 std. nach james dean "boulevard of broken dreams" gesucht habe, bin ich doch etwas enttäuscht. vielleicht habe ich etwas übersehen; das
gesuchte bild konnte ich nur über viel recherche bei einenm poster-anbieter finden (ich meine das bild, das bei alexander abgebildet ist, nicht "nighthawks" von hopper). hat sich g.h. davon distanziert oder die rechte abgetreten? ich bin schon über 15 jahren fan von g.h., hatte auch das
glück, ihn ´93 personlich kennnen zu lernen (St. Ingbert) und kann dazu auch noch nicht veröffentliche zeitungsberichte beitragen. mag sein, das dean nicht gerade "in" ist, aber ich finde, dass dieses bild eines seiner besten
realistischsten "nachbildungen" ist.
die neueren veröffentlichungen finde ich absolut spitze, pervektioniert und
(fast) nicht mehr zu toppen. schade, dass g.h. nicht mehr in Euro-land weilt,
irland ist mir persönlich zu weit...

Lieber Herr Helnwein,
ich habe vor zwanzig Jahren ihre Bücher gekauft. Sie waren immer eins meiner Vorbilder an perfektion und umsetzung. Ihre neuen Oelbilder an Gesichter und Landschaften gefallen mir noch besser. Schade das Sie nicht mehr in Brohl wohnen, das war ein Katzensprung von mir entfernt. Sie werden immer der Maßstab in meiner Malerei bleiben.

Waude! Your themes are very intresting and tecnic is fantastic among your oilpaintings. But may I ask something? Why you do so photographic oilpaintings childrens faces? I suppose it were much easier to just photograph them... like C-prints?
Also I dig very much your drawings. They are sick enough...
