December 2002 first of all i guess i have nothing more to say than the others have already said, helnwein has been the most inspiring artists for me all my life. there is definetly a need to recognize helnwein's work while you are studying art and humanities, art and philosophy and so on. why there are no references in universities, i cannot seem to understand. maybe we need to start making smtg about it thou. i'm trying my best, still...ı would like to make a case study about helnwein for my phd subject. he has already inspired me a lot and i'm sure that my thesis and subject matter has found a new approach within his art and philosophy. anyways i guess i'd better not write too long. |

I found his imagery hauntingly beautiful and powerful, so I was surprissed and ultimately disappointed to find when I began my degree in fine Art that non of my tutors had heard of him. There was not a mention of him in the library - finally I downloaded some work from the internet to assist me with my transcription project in first year. |
