Temple Bar Gallery
Dublin
A MOMENT IN TIME
a critical exploration of contemporary painting by international and Irish artists.
Open for viewing from Saturday 3rd December
The December exhibition at Temple Bar Gallery is aptly named. A Moment in Time will present a snapshot of contemporary painting and its infinite possibilities and variations. The private view for A Moment in Time on December 6th promises to be a glittering occasion as new work by over eighty Irish and International artists will be shown for the first time and the invited audience will have the opportunity to mingle with both artists and serious art collectors.

The evening will open with a champagne reception and live music before moving onto the serious business of purchasing art. All the exhibited art is available for sale by auction on the opening night with proceedings being led by John de Vere White. Not only will collectors be making an investment in contemporary art but the proceeds will be shared with the Irish Charity Aware. Do you know that one person in three in Ireland will suffer a depressive episode in their lifetime? Aware makes a valuable contribution to Irish society by supporting those affected by depression and its worst effects.
All of the artists in A Moment in Time have been carefully selected on the basis of their very specific, well-defined styles. Alongside the stalwarts of Irish and international painting are the new generation who are forging a painterly language that is entirely fresh, edgy and original. Art buyers with a discerning eye can, in the style of Charles Saatchi, model a collection of rising young painters or opt for an immediate high-return investment in a leading figure. For some of the international names in A Moment in Time exhibiting in Ireland represents a new departure. With such an exciting mix of artists there will be something for the beginner and seasoned collector alike!
The gala evening and auction will be held on Tuesday 6th December. For further information watch this space!

A flavour of the artists in the exhibition reads as Michael Coleman, Oliver Comerford, Margaret Corcoran, Paul Doran, Blaise Drummond, Felim Egan, Cecilia Edefalk, Patrick Hall, Gottfried Helnwein, Martin Gale, David Goldbold, Chung Eun-Mo, Elizabeth Magill, Makiko Nakamura, Nathalie du Pasquier, Sean Shanahan and John Shinnors.

We have carefully selected a number of artists to participate who have developed a very specific, well-defined style, and who have developed the language of painting in a clear unique identity.

About Temple Bar Gallery & Studios:
Temple Bar Gallery & Studios is one of Ireland's leading contemporary art venues. Centrally located in Temple Bar, Dublin's designated Cultural Quarter, TBG&S is a publicly funded, non profit making organisation which hosts a high profile programme of Irish and international art. This programme includes the work of both established and emerging artists working in a wide range of media and has in the last two years featured such artists as Mariele Neudecker, Ene-Liis Semper, Mark Raidpere, iga Kariz, Miha Strukelj, A K Dolven, Malachi Farrell, Jesper Just, Ceal Floyer, and Fredrich Kunath.
TBG&S was established by artists in 1983 in response to the increasing demands for affordable studio spaces in Dublin city centre, a move which proved to be crucial in consolidating Temple Bar's status as Dublin's cultural quarter. In the mid-nineties a new gallery and studio complex was custom designed for the company by leading Irish architects McCullough / Mulvin and today the building that houses TBG&S integrates a gallery with on-street access, an impressive atrium space and 30 artists' studios. The use of these studios reflects the broad-ranging developments in contemporary practice as artists working with photography, video, sound, sculpture, print and painting all currently occupy spaces at TBG&S.
