Kupka, Helnwein, and Warhol...OH MY!
My Thursdays in Prague are always jam-packed. After my documentary class, I have just enough time for lunch in the park before I have to get to my art history excursion to museums. This Thursday was especially memorable. I saw Frantisek Kupka’s "Fugue in Two Colors" in the Veletrzni Palace and then headed over to the Galerie Rudolfinum where Gottfried Helnwein led us on a tour of his paintings and photographs. I was so inspired by his work I went back to get a second look during Prague’s Museum Night.
After the tour I went to another gallery to catch the last screening of "Women In Revolt" by Andy Warhol and some other sexy videos at the SEXISM? exhibit at Vaclav Spala Gallery. It was almost as exciting as the real-life drama I witnessed on the street right before the show. I saw a guy break the window of a parked car to steal a bag from the backseat. He didn’t get far. Someone from a nearby store ran after him and as quickly as he stole the bag he dropped it and ran away.
