tels que les paysages et oeuvres de la nature ,

The films themselves range from documents of performances to highly structured experimental films. The Art of Destruction concerns the main protagonists of the movement and their own particular brands of performance/art/terrorism as well as a discussion of the major films and their influences. Each member is given space for biography (and there are some bizarre backgrounds to be sure) and key performances, all amply illustrated in disturbing black and white. Rather than just a catalogue of broken taboos the VAG are seen as natural extensions of both Dadaism and the "Happening" scene of the '50s, but one distinctly Austrian in the way that it rebelled against a harshly censorious government whom the performers saw as intrinsically unrepentant of its recent fascist past. This adds greater weight to the performances than perhaps the later New York transgressive movement, and their influence can be seen in everything from Helnwein paintings to mainstream Marilyn Manson videos. ...

Je ne connaissais pas l’oeuvre de John Ruskin et suis surpris par l’importance de ses écrits et de ses travaux. J’ai été impressionné par le travail des Surréalistes en premier lieu, puis par des gens comme Hans Bellmer, Unica Zürn, Henri Michaux, Gabrielle Wittkop, Antonin Artaud, Sade, mais aussi par Giger, Helnwein et bien sûr Witkin. J’étais très curieux de cinéma expérimental et bizarre (Arrabal, Jodorowski, Bunuel et plus tard, Greeneway, entre autres...). Éliane m’a fait découvrir récemment des peintres Symbolistes qui ont sans doute indirectement influencé mon travail pour InHuman. ...

Gottfried Helnwein (born October 8, 1948 in Vienna) is an Austrian fine artist, photographer, and performance artist.

Helnwein studied at the University of Visual Art in Vienna (Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Wien). He was awarded the Master-class prize (Meisterschulpreis) of the University of Visual Art, Vienna, the Kardinal-König prize and the Theodor-Körner prize. His early work consists mainly of hyper-realistic watercolors, depicting wounded children, as well as performances - often with children - in public spaces. Helnwein is a conceptual artist, concerned primarily with psychological and sociological anxiety, historical issues and political topics. As a result of this, his work is often considered provocative and controversial. He has worked as a painter, draftsman, photographer, muralist, sculptor and performance artist, using a wide variety of techniques and media. "The Beautiful People" presents Manson as a ghostly, 13’- tall dictator in Fascist garb, flanked by equally tall obsidian angels as he rules over saluting citizens who gaze upon him with blank, hollow-eyed stares. Intercut with these shots are equally disturbing scenes of Manson strapped to a sadomasochistic orthodontic contraption that recalls the horrifically macabre milieus of Austrian painter Gottfried Helnwein ...

Je vous invite à parcourir les images, cheminements flashés de mon art, expériences visuelles vécues à l'extrème dans une société qui oublie souvent que derrière ses barrières modérées, se cachent des blessures et émotions mais qu'elle refoule, et qui sont souvent taboues. Rejoignant les aspirations d'artistes tels que Arnulf Rainer, autres Aktionnistes Viennois, jusqu'à Gottfried Helnwein, mais aussi Antonin Artaud, etc ... je cherche à retrouver l'identité archaïque de l'humain à-travers sa tragédie de la mort et de la naissance, ses processus de transformations dans la vie. Les travaux d'art exposés dans mon site , ne sont pas tous issus de mon expérience "N.D.E", peut-être que certains en sont plus ou moins imprégnés et je pense que la page de mes masques de morts, sont ici plus emprunts de cette expérience, [voir "The mortuary"] .... ...
