National Vanguard continues to garner serious attention, this time in the world of art.

WHILE WE WOULD hardly expect well-known German artist Gottfried Helnwein to publicly agree with our interpretations of history and culture, considering the milieu in which he must operate (and we have no way to know what his private opinions may be) -- he nevertheless found Vic Olvir's National Vanguard article on poet Sylvia Plath to be of sufficient interest to reproduce it in full on his Web site. What may have sparked the artist's interest in the National Vanguard piece was the inclusion of one of Helnwein's paintings -- Adoration of the Magi - as an illustration for the piece.

Helnwein has accepted commissions from Jewish supremacist groups and produced works which denigrate WWII Germany in the conventional and expected way (though Helnwein's representational and emotional vision has an impact far beyond that of most modern artists), but he has also produced works which are more enigmatic, and seem to embody a Jungian, archetypal, and near-religious conception of that period -- though it is certainly likely that Helnwein is merely "helping" Whites, especially Germans, deal with what he might conceive as "demons within."
